Apron Knot Dress

This Christmas I have been busy making gifts for family and friends.  I have been tempted to post pictures of the goodies I am making, but I am afraid that someone will check my site and discover what they are getting.  So, I decided that I would post some other sewing projects that I have worked on earlier in the year.   That is before I officially became The Frock Princess.

For Lexie's birthday I made her an Apron Knot Dress.  She looked so cute crawling around in her pretty attire.  What I like about this dress is that it grows with the child.  It starts out as a dress and then it can later become a shirt.

Here is what the dress looks like:

Isn't it cute?  The theme for her party was pink and brown polka dots so I went along with the theme in the dress.

Here is what Lexie thought of her birthday dress:

She loved it!

I can make this dress in a variety of fabric colors and designs.  Cost: $25 Sizes: 6mths to size 8

Hark the Herald Angels Sing!

So my little angel is going to be an angel in a play at school.  So, I was responsible for coming up with a costume for him.  I have been feeling a little lazy lately (probably this cold weather), and I did not want to drive to the fabric store.  It is 25 minutes away, and I just was not feeling it.

Ah-Ha moment: Use old pillowcases.  I dug out two of our mismatched pillowcases and created this angelic costume for my little angel!

You'll have to pardon the wrinkles since the pillowcases have been sitting in our trunk for at least 10 years.   Hey, I said I was feeling lazy.  Didn't have the desire to iron either! :)

I can't wait to see my little angel sing!  Hope you have a blessed Christmas, and remember that Jesus Christ is the true reason for the season!

Double Layer Skirt

So, I took break over the weekend to celebrate my baby boy's 6th birthday!   Hard to believe that he is turning six.  Goodness how time flies.

Today, however, it was back to the grindstone.  In between putting ornaments on the Christmas tree, and doing the monotonous weekly task of laundry, I made a double layer skirt.  This skirt turned out so cute!  I plan on making a matching shirt with flowers made out of the same material swatches.

Here is the skirt...Ta-da!!!

This skirt is so tiny, I made it 12 months, I had to pin it to my dress form.  Isn't it just darling?  Here is a close up shot.

Sizes: 9 mths to size 8

Pleated Tunic

Today I finished making a pleated tunic.  I really like the look of this top.  It is very versatile.  It can be worn in cooler weather with a long sleeve shirt or onesie underneath, and it can be worn in the summer as is.  I added an embroidered L on the front, which gives it that personal touch.  Here is the finished product!
This top comes in sizes 6mth to 6T.  Cost: $20 (price includes the embroidered letter of your choice)

Peasant Top

I love, love, LOVE this top!  I made this one long sleeve with an apron; simply because I am in love with the apron look.  This shirt can be made with short sleeves, with a solid print, or without the apron.  Can't you just imagine your sweet little darling wearing this trendy thing!  I simply cannot wait to put in on my baby girl, but that will have to wait until tomorrow since she is nestled in bed at the moment.  Sizes: 12 mths, 2T, 4T, 6T, 8, and 10.  Cost: $35

This item was made using a Tiedyediva and Monkeybug pattern.

Swing Coat

Isn't this coat absolutely adorable?  I made this for my darling girl!  She is almost 14 months and she has plenty of room to grow into this coat.  She will definitely be able to get use out of it next winter as well.  This coat is completely lined and can be made in any color combo you can possibly imagine.  For this coat I used a gray heavy fleece and lined it with a pink medallion cotton fabric.  It secures with the bow, and it has an additional snap to keep the coat from gapping.  Sizes available: 12 to 2T; 3T to 4T; 5T to 6T  Cost: $40

Let me know size and what color(s) you want for the main shell of the coat.

A New Adventure!

When I look back on my accomplishments the ones that I am the most proud of are the times where I have let my creative juices flow and simply create.  Just creating something out of nothing gives me such satisfaction, and my reward is taking pleasure in seeing those around me simply enjoy the things I have created.  My creativity can most likely be seen in the decor of my children's bedroom.  Whether it is the  canvas paintings of my son's favorite children's books, or the huge polka dots and letters that adorn my daughter's walls.  Although my usual medium is paint and paper, this past year I rediscovered my love of sewing!  It was like a homecoming for me as I picked up my first pattern in like 20 years (the last time I used a pattern I was in 7th grade).  Initially I created pieces for my baby girl; however, with each new sewing project I knew I wanted to share my work with others.  Now, after several people twisting my arm to sell my tiny creations, I am starting out on a new adventure.  The adventure of owning my own sewing business.  I hope that you enjoy my products, and stick with me as my adventure continues.
